All CERN-authored articles published in APS journal collection to be Open Access
The American Physical Society (APS) and The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) have announced a partnership to make all CERN-authored articles published in the APS journal collection to be Open Access. Articles in APS’ Physical Review Letters, Physical Review D, and Physical Review C in 2015 and 2016 will be covered by this agreement.

Elsevier and Australasian Research Management Society recognize talented young scientists at Scopus award ceremony
STM publisher Elsevier and the Australasian Research Management Society (ARMS) recognized the academic research achievements of 17 young scientists at the 5th Scopus Young Researcher of the Year Awards. With the Scopus Young Researcher of the Year Award, Elsevier supports early career researchers in their quest to advance science across multiple disciplines. The awards also recognize the contributions made by the Australasia research community to the global scientific landscape.

ProQuest has announced that Tomsk State University in Russia has selected ProQuest SciTech Collection to offer full-text access with comprehensive discovery (through extensive abstracts in the fields of natural science, technology, and engineering). In addition, they also chose ProQuest Psychology Journals, providing access to full-text journals and dissertations covering clinical and social psychology, as well as related fields such as genetics, psychology of business and economics, communication, criminology, addiction, neurology, and social welfare.

Open Access Week Kickoff Event program announced
The 2014 International Open Access Week Kickoff Event, co-hosted by SPARC and the World Bank, will focus on this year’s theme of “Generation Open.” The hour-long kickoff event will take place on October 20 at 3pm EDT at the World Bank headquarters in downtown Washington, DC. It aims to provide a forum for students and early career researchers to have a lively conversation with an expert panel representing research funders, university administrators, and scholarly societies, exploring how the transition to Open Access affects scholars and researchers at different stages of their careers.

COPE North American Seminar 2014 focuses on new technologies and behaviours for identifying publication ethics issues
The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) North American Seminar was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, this August with a record breaking attendance from across the region of 81 delegates. The focus of the seminar was new technologies and behaviours for identifying publication ethics issues and those present were fortunate to be involved in an engaging and informative program covering a wide breadth of topics including persistent identifiers in the authoring process, linked content, open access and copyright, and a panel discussion on the use of plagiarism checking software and its effectiveness in identifying misconduct.

Dr. Andreas Meyer-Lindenberg named new Editor-in-Chief of the European Neuropsychopharmacology journal
The European College of Neuropsychopharmacology has announced Professor Andreas Meyer-Lindenberg, Director of the Central Institute of Mental Health in Mannheim, and Chair of Psychiatry at the University of Heidelberg, as the new editor-in-chief of European Neuropsychopharmacology (ENP), the official journal of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP). Meyer-Lindenberg was jointly appointed by the College and the journal’s publisher Elsevier, for a three year term.
