Thomson Reuters predicts Nobel Laureates for 2014
The Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters has announced its 2014 ‘Nobel-class’ Citation Laureates. Having accurately forecast 35 Nobel Prize winners since its inception in 2002, the annual Thomson Reuters Citation Laureates study mines scientific research citations to identify the most influential researchers in the fields of chemistry, physics, medicine and economics.

Swets Information Services B.V. declared bankrupt
Following the suspension of payment for Swets & Zeitlinger Group B.V., granted by the court in Amsterdam on September 19, 2014, the Swets Management team, together with J.L.M. Groenewegen (CMS), the appointed administrator, have been working to investigate alternatives for the business. Unfortunately, concrete alternatives to sell the business as a whole have not materialised and due to these developments Swets Information Services B.V. filed for bankruptcy on September 23, 2014. The court of Amsterdam honoured this request and as per September 23, 2014 Swets Information Services B.V. is declared bankrupt.

Elsevier expands OA portfolio with two new journals – Preventive Medicine Reports and Sensing and Bio-Sensing Research
STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of a two new peer reviewed open access journals, Preventive Medicine Reports (PMR) and Sensing and Bio-Sensing Research. While PMR will publish original, scholarly manuscripts on the science and practice of disease prevention, health promotion, and public health policymaking, Sensing and Bio-Sensing Research will publish reviews and papers which describe important new concepts or provide important insights into the practical application, manufacture and commercialisation of bio-sensing and sensing technologies.

Brill’s International Journal of Public Theology and Journal of Reformed Theology now included in SCOPUS
Scholarly publisher Brill has announced that two journals in its growing Theology program – International Journal of Public Theology (IJPT) and the Journal of Reformed Theology (JRT) – are now included in SCOPUS. With these additions, over 60 percent of Brill journals have now been selected for coverage in SCOPUS.
