New SAGE report calls for £4.7 billion annual increase in UK’s social science and innovation budget over the next Parliament
Academic publisher SAGE has published a major new report, written by the Campaign for Social Sciences (CfSS), highlighting the value of social sciences to the UK economy and society. ‘The Business of People: The Significance of Social Science over the Next Decade’ calls for at least a 10 percent increase in real terms of the £4.7 billion annual budget for science and innovation over the next parliament.

NFAIS selects Robert J. Massie as Honorary Fellow at 2015 Annual Conference
The National Federation of Advanced Information Services (NFAIS), the nation’s leading membership association for the information services industry, announced that Robert J. Massie, former president of Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), was designated an NFAIS Honorary Fellow at the NFAIS 2015 Annual Conference, February 22-24. The Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA) has announced a preferred purchasing agreement with Reprints Desk, Inc., a Research Solutions company. GWLA members will receive preferred purchasing terms for single-article document delivery services. The agreement, which supplements interlibrary loan (ILL) and provides same-day acquisition of scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles, follows similar arrangements with other consortia and library organisations.
