 PLOS reaches 200,000 research articles milestone
PLOS has announced that it has now published more than 200,000 research articles across its seven Open Access journals. PLOS was incorporated in 2001 as an Open Access advocacy organisation and became a publisher to prove the value of Open Access, beginning with PLOS Biology in 2003 and PLOS Medicine in 2004 as open alternatives to prestigious subscription journals.

 SAGE Publishing and American String Teachers Association partner to publish two journals
Academic publisher SAGE Publishing has partnered with the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) to publish the music journals American String Teacher (AST) and String Research Journal (SRJ). Founded in 1946, ASTA is dedicated to helping string and orchestra teachers and players. Its members include K-12 school string and orchestra educators, pre-collegiate and collegiate studio teachers, music education professors, students, conductors, and performers.

 Biomaterials Science to become official journal of European Society for Biomaterials in new partnership
The Royal Society of Chemistry has partnered with the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB) in a collaboration that will see Biomaterials Science become the official journal of ESB. The agreement is set to come into effect on January 1, 2018. The European Society for Biomaterials was founded in 1976 and is particularly well-known for its annual meeting – the largest biomaterials meeting in Europe – and its support for early career scientists through its Young Scientists Forum (YSF).

 Editorial Manager Version 14.1 includes updated Author Submission Interface capable of automated metadata extraction
Online submission system provider Aries Systems has announced that Editorial Manager, Version 14.1, now in Beta release, includes an updated Author Submission Interface capable of extracting key metadata from Authors’ submitted Microsoft Word documents so as to automatically populate key system fields. The new interface simplifies submission by reducing the amount of time that authors spend re-keying submission data, and will lead to more accurate submission metadata for publishers.
