Payment systems for digital content, video tools for distance learning, potential uses for 3-D technologies, augmented reality in children’s books: the exhibitors at the five Frankfurt Hot Spots offer a wide range of different solutions for all aspects of creating and distributing digital content. With more than 90 exhibitors from around 30 countries, the Hot Spots will once again showcase complex and innovative applications at the Frankfurt Book Fair (8–12 October 2014). Over the five days of the Book Fair the Hot Spots will host about 140 events and presentations, demonstrating the productivity and innovative strengths of the industry.

ProQuest announces ebooks partnership with leading Irish Booksellers
ProQuest Ebooks has partnered with O’Mahony’s, Irish booksellers and library suppliers, to deliver key content from leading publishers to institutions across Ireland and the UK. This new partnership will enable O’Mahony’s customers to purchase over 600,000 ebook titles, which can be chosen title-by-title and then owned outright by the library. The titles are offered through ProQuest ebook companies ebrary and EBL.

Academic and professional publisher SAGE has announced its partnering sponsorship of the 2014 Golden Goose Award. Conceived in 2012 by Congressman Jim Cooper (D-TN), the purpose of the award is to honour researchers whose federally funded work may not have seemed to have significant practical applications at the time it was conducted, but has resulted in significant benefits to society. The 2014 award recipients will be honored at the third annual Golden Goose Awards Ceremony on September 18 at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC.
