Six medical research charities recently launched the Charity Open Access Fund (COAF) to cover open access, article-processing charges. The Charity Open Access Fund (COAF) is a partnership between Arthritis Research UK, Breast Cancer Campaign, the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and the Wellcome Trust to enable free and unrestricted access to the published outputs of the research we support. EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and the Congregational Library & Archives in Boston worked together to digitize the content and build the free database from the volumes originally published by the H.W. Open access publisher BioMed Central and the University of Michigan have announced an agreement to publish a new open access journal, Clinical Diabetes and Endocrinology, which is now open for submissions and will begin publishing in the first quarter of 2015. The journal is led by Editor-in-Chief, Meng H. Tan, Professor, Internal Medicine, in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology, and Diabetes, at the University of Michigan. McGraw-Hill Education and Austin Community College unveiled the world’s largest “math emporium,” a 600-seat lab that has the capacity to serve half of the district’s over 41,000 credit students in developmental math at the 2014 annual EDUCAUSE conference.
