STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of a new open access journal One Health. The journal is the official journal of the One Health Platform, an international forum that promotes a cross-sectoral and collaborative approach to one health issues, bringing together leading experts from a multitude of research areas.

Scientific publisher Nature Publishing Group has launched Nature Reviews Disease Primers (NRDP), an online-only, peer-reviewed journal that introduces a new format to the NPG portfolio. NRDP will publish review articles called Primers that provide overviews of diseases and disorders.

China Computer Federation and Springer to publish new journal
STM publisher Springer will publish the new open access journal Data Science and Engineering (DSE) in collaboration with the China Computer Federation (CCF), starting in 2015. CCF is responsible for editorial content, the editorial board and academic development of the journal. Data Science and Engineering is financially sponsored by Nanjing Sinovatio Technology Co. Ltd. The journal is part of Springer’s open access portfolio SpringerOpen.

SAGE opposes America COMPETES Reauthorization Act of 2015 (H.R. 1806)

UK universities save over £1.38bn through shared services, streamlined processes
Loughborough University and the Efficiency Exchange, the service operated by Universities UK (UUK) in partnership with Jisc, Leadership Foundation and HEFCEA have launched a new report on the potential of collaboration and shared services in UK higher education (HE). Praise is given to the efficiency savings achieved by universities through sharing, totalling £1.38bn between 2005 and 2011, although there is a clear message that UK HE must do more to emulate the business world and further embrace a culture of collaboration if it is to remain competitive on an international stage.
