Evidence Aid researchers support international efforts in Nepal
As the second major earthquake struck Nepal less than three weeks after more than 8,000 people died in a devastating quake, UK-based Evidence Aid has joined the world’s renewed response. It is helping health workers decide what to do, and what to avoid. Evidence Aid, an international initiative set up to provide the best evidence on the effects of interventions before, during and after disasters, is providing much needed knowledge support to health workers in Nepal.

Twelve leading national research and education networks (NRENs) representing the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe, and including Jisc’s Janet network, have announced the official launch of the second ‘Enlighten Your Research Global (EYR-Global)’ programme. This programme, which helps accelerate international research collaborations by providing selected proposals with improved networking, data transfers, and/or engineering, is now accepting proposals.

Non-profit scientific publisher IOP Publishing (IOP) has announced that the journal Methods and Applications in Fluorescence will now be indexed in Thomson Reuters’ Web of Science, and content will appear shortly. Coverage will begin with Volume 1 (2013) and the journal will be included in the 2016 Journal Citation Reports with its first Impact Factor.

BitLit selects Bowker Bibliographic Data to power its new ‘Shelfie’ function
BitLit, creators of an inventive app that enables publishers to offer ebook bundles to readers, has selected Bowker Global Books In Print® database to power its new ‘Shelfie’ function. Readers use the app to take a photo of their bookshelf (a “Shelfie”). Computer vision algorithms then identify titles on the shelf that are available to the reader at a free or discounted price from publishers participating in BitLit’s bundling service.
