The Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) conducted its Annual Meeting and General Assembly on April 12-13, 2016 in Vienna/Austria. Through a diverse mix of conference sessions, round-table discussions and open dialogue, the meeting pushed attendees to examine the future of repositories and the challenges and opportunities for international collaboration.

Over twenty publishers now use HighWire’s Impact Vizor for faster, easier ‘evidenced-based’ publishing insights
HighWire Press, Inc., the publishing technology platform provider for renowned scholarly publishers and societies, has announced that twenty-one publishers now use Impact Vizor, a suite of interactive, visualised analytics viewers which launched in August 2015. Impact Vizor was an ALPSP 2015 Award for Innovation in Publishing finalist. Today publishers use the seven dashboards in Impact Vizor to visualise, analyse and compare editorial programs for rapid insights. HighWire developed the tools with critical input from several publishers.

Plymouth University plays a role in two BMJ Awards winners
Two winning projects from this year’s national BMJ Awards have included important input from Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry (PUPSMD). Winner of the Neurology Team Award was a project entitled enhanced safety in epilepsy. This is a partnership between Plymouth University, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust and epilepsy charity SUDEP Action.

New De Gruyter journal emphasizes more research on pleura and peritoneum
A new De Gruyter journal Pleura and Peritoneum aims to reinvigorate research into the relatively obscure membranes that protect the lungs and abdomen. In order to give research into the pleura and peritoneum more weight and attention, Prof. Marc A. Reymond of Ruhr University Bochum has founded the journal Pleura and Peritoneum together with other internationally renowned researchers. Prof. Reymond is serving as editor-in-chief.
