University of Florida’s Judith Russell to receive NFAIS 2017 Miles Conrad Award at Annual Conference
The National Federation of Advanced Information Services (NFAISTM), a global non-profit membership organisation serving the information services community, has announced that Judith Russell, the Dean of University Libraries at the University of Florida, has been selected to receive the NFAIS 2017 Miles Conrad Award. NFAIS’s Miles Conrad Award is being given to Russell in recognition of her significant achievements in librarianship and for her leadership in information services throughout a career spanning academia, government, the non-profit and private sectors.

Alan Daugherty named Editor-in-Chief of American Heart Association Journal for second term
Alan Daugherty, senior associate dean for research at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, was recently approved to renew his contract as editor-in-chief of Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology: Journal of the American Heart Association (ATVB) for a second five-year term. ATVB is one of the five core journals of the American Heart Association.

Cochrane South Africa appoints Charles Shey Wiysonge as new Director
Cochrane South Africa has announced the appointment of Charles Shey Wiysonge as its new Director, effective December 2016. Originally trained as a physician, Professor Wiysonge has also completed extensive postgraduate training in epidemiology, evidence-based health care, and vaccinology. His association with Cochrane dates back to 2001, when he became the inaugural recipient of the Aubrey Sheiham Public Health and Primary Care Scholarship (from 2014 The Aubrey Sheiham Evidence-based Health Care in Africa Leadership Award).
