Initiative for Open Citations (I4OC) launches with early success

There is fresh momentum in the scholarly publishing world to open up data on the citations that link research publications. Six organisations have announced the establishment of the Initiative for Open Citations (I4OC). These include OpenCitations, the Wikimedia Foundation, PLOS, eLife, DataCite, and the Centre for Culture and Technology at Curtin University.

Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that the Université libre de Bruxelles will be implementing the Ex Libris Alma® library management service, Primo® discovery and delivery solution, and LegantoSM course reading list solution to assist the university libraries in meeting the needs of students and teaching staff, increasing efficiencies, and tightly integrating library systems with campus teaching and learning applications. Lakehead University Library and Scholars Portal collaborate on hosted digital preservation pilot

Scholars Portal and Lakehead University Library have announced their collaboration on the development of Permafrost, a new preservation service to help protect the unique digital collections held by Ontario’s university libraries and archives. Permafrost is a proposed cloud-hosted digital preservation service for members of theOntario Council of University Libraries (OCUL). It will provide the preservation processing system Archivematica in conjunction with OCUL’s cloud storage network, the Ontario Library Research Cloud.
