The ISNI International Agency Ltd has announced changes to its infrastructure focused on providing open identifiers for organisations working in the field of scholarly communications. The ISNI Organizations Registry will enable organisations to change and correct their own records and allow the research community to identify author affiliations persistently and authoritatively, thereby supporting analysis of research output and impact.

 American Geophysical Union coalition receives grant to advance open and fair data standards in the earth and space sciences
Open, accessible, and high-quality data and related data products and software are critical to the integrity of published research. In many cases, the data are one-time observations that cannot be repeated. Unfortunately, not all key data are saved and even when they are, their curation is uneven and discovery is difficult, thus making it difficult for other researchers to understand and use the data sets. To address this critical need, the Laura and John Arnold Foundation has awarded a grant to a coalition of groups representing the international Earth and space science community, convened by the American Geophysical Union (AGU).

As of 1 October 2017, he will succeed Karl Dittrich who has led the VSNU since 2012 and who will now retire.
