As the world’s largest publishing industry trade fair, the Frankfurter Buchmesse sees itself as a platform and trailblazer for innovation and digital development in the sector. Now, it is also an industry partner in the digital project EMMA, which has received funding by the European Union Research and Innovation programme Horizon 2020. The focus of the project is on developing a social media and content management tool which facilitates implementing social media campaigns and monitoring social media activities.

 Wiley announces publishing partnership with the American Academy of Periodontology
Publisher John Wiley and Sons Inc. has announced that it will publish the Journal of Periodontology andClinical Advances in Periodontics on behalf of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), effective in 2018. This agreement will see the journals move to the Wiley Online Library platform and the conversion ofClinical Advances in Periodontics from its current e-only format to a full print publication distributed to all AAP members.

 LIBER signs open letter to stop potentially harmful copyright reform
LIBER has signed an open letter directed at the EU’s Legal Affairs Committee (JURI), in an attempt to stop recent EU copyright reform developments which threaten Open Access and Open Science. In the letter, LIBER and 14 other organisations express particular alarm at the potential impact of Article 11, which relates to Ancillary Copyright, and Article 13, which relates to filtering user-uploaded content, of the draft Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market.
