 Clarivate Analytics appoints Sam Burridge as Director of Strategy & Transformation
Clarivate Analytics, the global leader in providing trusted insights and analytics to enable the research ecosystem to accelerate discovery, announced that Samantha Burridge has joined the company in a newly-created role – Director of Strategy & Transformation of its Scientific & Academic Research group. Burridge will report directly to the new division CEO, Annette Thomas, in London.

 Nature Research opens new editorial office in Berlin
Springer Nature is celebrating the establishment of a new editorial centre in Berlin for Nature Research, the portfolio that includes Nature and the Nature-branded research journals. The new office will include the editorial team for Nature Catalysis, a new journal, which is launching in January 2018.

 Court ruling in favour of ACS in a case against Sci-Hub
The American Chemical Society (ACS) has welcomed the court ruling in its case against Sci-Hub, a self-proclaimed web pirate organisation that steals and then illegally reproduces and disseminates copyrighted scientific research articles on the internet. Issued by Judge Leonie M. Brinkema on Nov. 3, the ruling orders Sci-Hub to cease infringement of ACS’ copyrights, as well as counterfeiting and infringement of its trademarks.

 EBSCO information Services partners with BiblioLabs to support open access discovery of electronic theses and dissertations
EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and BiblioLabs have announced the launch of a collaborative open access initiative dedicated to advancing library and industry innovation related to electronic theses and dissertations (ETD). OpenDissertations.org is committed to facilitating open and free access to ETD metadata and content. In addition to the fully open website, EBSCO will include EDT metadata in EBSCO Discovery ServiceTM to facilitate access and improve content discovery.

 Scholarly publishers come together to launch Scientific Society Publisher Alliance
A group of prestigious not-for-profit scientific membership societies have announced the launch of the Scientific Society Publisher Alliance (SSPA), an initiative focused on building awareness of and support for publication of scientific research by scientist-run scientific societies. The SSPA started as a collaboration of scientific societies that came together to reinforce and communicate the excellence, importance, and uniqueness of their journals.

 IOS Press acquires StemBook
STM publisher IOS Press has acquired StemBook, an online open access review of stem cell biology that was launched by the Harvard Stem Cell Institute (HSCI) in collaboration with the MIND Informatics group at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2008. IOS Press will update, develop, expand and relaunch the site in spring 2018 in collaboration with HSCI.
