 Elsevier and University of Oxford announce 5-year collaboration to support early career researchers in the field of mathematics and data science
Elsevier, the information analytics business specialising in science and health, and the University of Oxford, a world-leading centre of learning, teaching and research and the oldest university in the English-speaking world, have announced their five-year collaboration to develop exceptional research talent in the field of mathematics and data science. The initiative will enable five early career researchers from Oxford Mathematics to apply for the internationally competitive three-year Hooke and Titchmarsh Fellowship Program.

 The Publishers Association unveils data protection toolkit
The Publishers Association is launching a new online toolkit for members to help them prepare for the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which will introduce widespread changes to data protection laws in Europe. The resources, which have been developed for the PA by law firm Harbottle & Lewis together with technology consultancy Stigmergist, offer a full practical guide for publishers, outlining what they need to do to comply with the new regulations before they apply from May 25, 2018.

 Journal of Transition Medicine joins De Gruyter’s medicine portfolio
Academic publisher De Gruyter has announced that the recently launched OA publication the Journal of Transition Medicine will join its medicine portfolio. The journal will be published in cooperation with the German Society for Transition Medicine (DGfTM). Dr. Martina Oldhafer of the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein and Professor Lars Pape, MD of the Hannover Medical School will serve as the editors-in-chief of the journal.

Joachim Flickinger has been appointed as the new Managing Director of S. Karger GmbH in Freiburg, Germany, on January 1, 2018. He succeeds Sibylle Gross who had been in charge of the Freiburg office since 1993 and retired at the end of 2017. Alongside his new role, Joachim Flickinger will continue to serve as Director Sales & Distribution and as a member of the Management Board of S. Karger AG in Basel, Switzerland.
