 ProQuest Dialog database adds Northern Light database for real-time access to breaking information from life sciences events
Pharmaceutical researchers and other users of the ProQuest Dialog® professional search service can now access more than 2.7 million abstracts and posters from medical and life sciences conferences around the world. ProQuest Dialog has announced a partnership with Northern Light, making its Life Sciences Conference Abstracts database available to ProQuest Dialog customers – cross-searchable with more than 130 other biomedical, engineering, patent and news databases.

 Digital Science and Katalysis launch pilot project to test blockchain technologies
Technology company Digital Science and Katalysis, a startup based in Amsterdam, have announced the launch of a pilot project to test blockchain technologies to support the peer review process. They are joined in this pilot project by founding partner Springer Nature. The problems of research reproducibility, recognition of reviewers and the rising burden of the review process, as research volumes increase each year, have led to a challenging landscape for scholarly communications.

 De Gruyter to publish Nordic Pulp & Paper Research Journal
Academic publisher De Gruyter and MittUniversitetet, the Mid Sweden University (MiUn), will collaborate to publish the Nordic Pulp & Paper Research Journal (NPPRJ). The journal was until now self-published by MiUn in co-operation with 9 other universities in Sweden, Finland and Norway. The new cooperation starts with Volume 33 (2018).

 APHA announces free access to firearms research published in the American Journal of Public Health
The American Public Health Association has announced that research papers, commentaries and analytic essays on public health and firearms published in the American Journal of Public Health are now available to all free of charge, with no subscription required to access the research, data and findings. A select group of high-value research will be made available to the public immediately. Moving forward, APHA plans to unlock all published and future firearm research.
