Wiley, the global research and education company, has extended its partnership with Kudos, the award-winning platform for managing research dissemination, to enable authors to generate Shareable PDFs (S-PDFs) for their Wiley publications. S-PDF makes it easy for researchers to create and share plain language summaries of their work, encapsulated in PDFs that can be uploaded to PDF-based sharing services.

 A growing number of libraries are increasingly cancelling subscriptions to full suite of publishers’ journals, opting for limited titles to save on costs
Florida State University has entered into negotiations with publisher Elsevier to see how it can resolve a pricing issue. Back in April, FSU announced that it would not renew a so-called ‘big deal’ with Elsevier in 2019, due to its high cost, and would instead subscribe to a subset of the most-needed journals. The university’s move represents the latest example of academic libraries walking away from these comprehensive and expensive subscriptions, which include all or most of a publisher’s catalogue, and instead signing up for la carte titles.

 CLOCKSS announces preservation of Crossref metadata
The CLOCKSS Archive, the long-term preservation service for scholarly content, has announced that the CLOCKSS system will preserve all Crossref metadata. The Crossref system contains bibliographic information for 97 million scholarly articles and book content, and growing by approximately 2 million each year.
