 Universities from the United States dominate ARWU 2018 Top 500 list
The 2018 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) has been released by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy. Since 2003, every year ARWU has been presenting the world’s Top 500 universities based on Science Citation Index Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index data from Clarivate Analytics, as well as data from other third parties. ARWU is recognised as a leader of global university rankings.

 Portico and the National Library of the Netherlands partner to place archive replica at the National Library of the Netherlands
Digital preservation service Portico and the National Library of the Netherlands (Koninklijke Bibliotheek or KB) have partnered to establish an online replica of the Portico archive that will be hosted by the KB. The partnership with the KB also extends Portico’s work with national libraries.

 Global Sustainability Coalition for Open Science surpasses half-million Euro funding mark
Six months past an initial funding appeal, the Global Sustainability Coalition for Open Science Services (SCOSS) has surpassed a key half-million Euro milestone having received pledges for funding totalling 680,700 Euros. The initiative, which intends to provide a framework for libraries, policymakers and other stakeholders to collectively fund and stabilise a vital infrastructure of freely available open science services, selected the Directory of Open Access Journals and SHERPA/RoMEO as beneficiaries of this pilot call for community funding.

The Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) now offers European Continuing Medical Education (ECME) credits for clinicians participating in online activities for select articles. The Journal is offering two ECME credits per month upon successful completion of related self-assessment questions for each article.

Frontiers in Psychiatry has announced the appointment of Prof. David Cohen of the Université Pierre et Marie Curie Paris, France, as the new Chief Editor of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry section. Also heading the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry department at La Salpêtrière hospital in Paris, Professor Cohen’s group investigates autism spectrum disorder and learning disabilities, childhood onset schizophrenia, catatonia and severe mood disorder.
