 AVS and AIP Publishing in deal to publish new interdisciplinary journal, AVS Quantum Science
AIP Publishing and AVS: Science and Technology of Materials, Interfaces, and Processing (AVS) have announced an agreement to publish AVS Quantum Science, a new online interdisciplinary journal. The announcement coincides with the AVS 65th International Symposium & Exhibition in Long Beach, California, from October 21-26, 2018.

 Louise Crowe appointed to BMJ’s Executive Committee
Healthcare knowledge provider BMJ has appointed Louise Crowe, Director of the Knowledge Centre, to BMJ’s Executive Committee, helping to further cement the Centre’s multi-award winning status. Louise is responsible for driving the work that produces clinical decision support tool BMJ Best Practice, and medical educational resources BMJ Learning and OnExamination. She has been employed at BMJ as Director of the Knowledge Centre since 2017.

 Appeals Court reverses district court’s fair use decision in Cambridge University Press v. J.L. Albert
In an opinion released October 19, 2018, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit unanimously reversed the district court’s fair use decision in Cambridge University Press v. J.L. Albert. The appeals court remanded the case to the district court for further proceedings consistent with its instructions.

 LIBER to highlight importance of research libraries to EOSC in Vienna
The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) will be launched in Vienna on November 23 and research libraries will have a major role to play in this new infrastructure, which is aimed at Europe’s 1.7 million researchers. Research libraries are the channels through which knowledge and data will reach the EOSC. They can promote the new portal and provide training.
