Global publisher Wiley and Hindawi have expanded their open access publishing collaboration. This announcement adds four new journals to the nine currently in the program. Technical professional organisation IEEE and the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) have announced details of the upcoming second edition of The IEEE Blockchain for Clinical Trials Forum to be held November 13-15, 2018 at the Clinical Innovation Zone, University of Glasgow, Scotland. The Forum brings together group leaders from global and European consortia, working groups, and private pharmaceutical company pilots to provide updates on the progress of pilots and implementation of blockchain technology into clinical trials and the research process. Amazon Web Services (AWS) has joined the National Institutes of Health’s Science and Technology Research Infrastructure for Discovery, Experimentation, and Sustainability (STRIDES) Initiative. Launched in July 2018, the STRIDES Initiative aims to harness the power of commercial cloud computing for NIH biomedical researchers. Initially, NIH’s efforts will focus on making high-value data sets more accessible to researchers and experimenting with new ways to optimise technology-intensive research. Academic publisher Cambridge University Press has announced that it is moving four more of its journals from a traditional subscription model to Gold Open Access in a further demonstration of its commitment to the development of a sustainable, more open future for academic publishing.
