Zidovetski, will deliver the keynote address at NFAIS’ 61st Annual Conference, scheduled for February 13 – 15, 2019, at the Hilton Old Town Alexandria Hotel in Virginia.  Lean Library’s Library Alternatives module now supports eBooks
Library Alternatives, the module of the Lean Library browser extension that facilitates alternative routes to full-text resources, will now support eBooks. Acquired by SAGE Publishing earlier this year, the technology platform allows seamless access to journals, articles, open access content, and now eBooks that are licensed by a user’s library, keeping them from paying for content they already have access to or being discouraged from using content altogether.

 Frontiers integrates AIRA into its digital peer-review platform
Open-access scholarly publisher Frontiers has announced the integration of Artificial Intelligence Review Assistant (AIRA) into its digital peer-review platform to enable better, more efficient quality control and manuscript handling. AIRA assists editors, reviewers and internal teams by analysing, interpreting and communicating the quality of submitted manuscripts and the review process, as well as suggesting actions and identifying potential reviewers.

 University of California and Elsevier in negotiations for academic journals subscriptions
The University of California system is currently negotiating the potential renewal of its contracts with scholarly journal publishers, including Elsevier. The Elsevier contract will expire on December 31, 2018. The UC is advocating for an integrated agreement with Elsevier that would cover both subscription charges and open access publishing fees, making open access the default for any article published by a UC author.

 CRKN releases 75,497 MARC records for Canadiana Online collection
Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) has released 75,497 MARC records for the Canadiana Online collection. MARC records are now available for 85 percent of the monographs currently in the Canadiana Online collection. Early in 2019, MARC records for the remaining Canadiana Online monographs, as well as for periodicals, government publications, and newspapers in the collection will also be available.
