 Nature honours four US scientists for mentorship
Nature, an international weekly journal of science, has honoured four US scientists for their mentorship of young scientists. The Nature Awards for Mentoring in Science were first established in 2005 to champion the importance of providing young scientists with valuable support to help further their careers. This is the first time that awards have focused on scientists from the South of the US, as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau.

 COAR hosts webinar on Plan S and repositories
The Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) recently provided a response to the guidance on the implementation of Plan S and hosted a webinar with the repository community to discuss Plan S requirements and the potential implications of them for repositories. Kathleen Shearer, Executive Director of COAR led the webinar together with Paul Walk, member of the COAR Next Generation Repositories Working Group, who provided important context and details related to the technical aspect of the COAR response.

 Credo Online Reference Service recognised with Choice OAT Award
Choice has announced that Credo Online Reference Service has been recognised with an Outstanding Academic Title (OAT) Award. The exploratory research platform added several new features in 2018, including a refreshed user-interface, a new content category providing currently trending topics, an update to its Mind Map visualisation feature, and functionality that enables instructors to embed content seamlessly into learning management systems.

 Frontiers and the Justus Liebig University Giessen form OA publishing agreement
The Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen (Justus Liebig University Giessen, University of Giessen) has established an institutional agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers. The Justus Liebig University Giessen supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, the University of Giessen has entered into an institutional agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of this agreement, eligible authors from the University of Giessen may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to the author.

 University of Florida, National Library of Cuba and OCLC to open Cuban collections to researchers worldwide
The University of Florida is working with the Biblioteca Nacional de Cuba José Martí (BNCJM), the National Library of Cuba, to register Cuban materials in WorldCat, a comprehensive global database of library collection, making these resources available to researchers around the world. Through a unique partnership between the BNCJM, the University of Florida and OCLC, 133,000 Cuban titles have been registered in WorldCat.
