Computer scientist, Dr. Aaron Halfaker, who gained significant media attention for his development of an artificial intelligence product that grades the quality of Wikipedia edits—the Objective Revision Evaluation Service (ORES)—will deliver the closing keynote address at the upcoming NFAIS conference, Artificial Intelligence: Finding Its Place in Research Discovery and Scholarly Publishing, on May 15-16, 2019 at Alexandria, VAs Hilton Old Town. Dr. Halfaker is a senior scientist at the University of Minnesota and a principal research scientist at the Wikimedia Foundation.

 AGU appoints Susan Trumbore as Editor-in-Chief of AGU Advances
American Geophysical Union (AGU) has announced that Susan Trumbore has been selected as the Editor in Chief of the new journal, AGU Advances. In her new role, Trumbore will lead AGU Advances in publishing select and timely full-length research articles from across the Earth and space sciences in a fully open access online journal. This journal will focus on publishing papers that have immediate implications and are of interest to researchers across the Earth and space science disciplines, the broader scientific community, policy makers, and the public. In partnership with Wiley publishing, the journal will be available online and will produce approximately 150 to 200 articles per year.
