 SPARC urges Department of Justice to block Cengage, McGraw-Hill merger
The Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) has submitted a detailed filing to the U.S. Department of Justice urging federal antitrust enforcers to block the proposed merger between college textbook publishing giants Cengage and McGraw-Hill Education. The merger would create the largest publisher of college course materials in the United States and the world’s second largest education publisher overall.

 CDL joins 11 partner libraries, the Library Publishing Coalition and Educopia on grant to study library publishing workflows
The California Digital Library, along with 11 partner libraries, has announced a partnership with Educopia Institute and the Library Publishing Coalition (LPC) on an Institute of Museum and Library Services National Leadership Grant to investigate and document journal publishing workflows being used in a variety of library-based publishing programs. Based on Educopia’s very successful OSSArcFlow Project, this project will create a set of model workflows that can be adopted and adapted by other libraries.

Sheffield Hallam University Library supports its researchers in making their research more widely available.  RSNA and ACR collaborate on landmark medical 3D printing registry
The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the American College of Radiology (ACR) will launch a new medical 3D printing clinical data registry to collect 3D printing data at the point of clinical care. A joint ACR-RSNA committee will govern the registry intended to pilot in the fall of 2019. This announcement follows the release of four new Category III Current Procedural TerminologyTM (CPTTM) codes for the use of 3D printing to create anatomic models and anatomic guides.
