The Intellectual Property and Science business of Thomson Reuters has unveiled the nominations for the Allicense 2015 Breakthrough Awards, honouring the leading deals of 2014 in Biopharmaceutical Licensing and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), as identified by Thomson Reuters Recap, the leading provider of analysis and advice for biopharmaceutical business development. The awards – to be determined by public vote – will be presented on May 5 at Allicense.

Healthcare information provider Wolters Kluwer has announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has awarded the company a patent (Patent Number 8,914,395) for its ‘Search In Your Own Language’ technology. New APA journal integrates research, theory, and practice to inform teaching and learning in psychology
The American Psychological Association (APA) has announced that the new journal Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Psychology (STLP) will feature evidence-based teaching tips and reviews of contemporary teaching theories in psychology. It plans to emphasize articles that integrate research, theory and practice to benefit high school, community college, college and university educators—and their students. The inaugural issue will be available this spring.

Wellcome Trust appoints Eliza Manningham-Buller as Chair-elect
The Wellcome Trust has announced the appointment of Eliza Manningham-Buller as the Trust’s Chair-elect. Baroness Manningham-Buller, who is currently a Governor of the Wellcome Trust, will succeed Sir William Castell as Chair when he retires from the role on October 1, 2015. She was appointed following an open recruitment process, and will be the first woman to chair the Wellcome Trust.

More than 80 percent of students use mobile technology to study, says new McGraw-Hill Education report
Mobile use among students was on the rise from 2013 to 2014, according to new research released by McGraw-Hill Education. The second annual report, ‘The Impact of Technology on College Student Study Habits,’ conducted by McGraw-Hill Education and Hanover Research, found that 81 percent of students use mobile devices (such as smartphones and tablets) to study, the second most popular device category behind laptops and up 40 percent year over year.
