Around The World in 8 Hours, the virtual stream of The London Book Fair’s Publishing for Digital Minds conference generated 17.8 million impressions and reached 882,000 users on Twitter alone on March 18. The virtual conference – which was the first of its type mounted by a major publishing conference – took place between 8am and 4.30pm GMT on March 18.

Elsevier and the International Society for Sexual Medicine announce publishing agreement |
STM publisher Elsevier has announced that it has been selected by the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) to publish its flagship journal, The Journal of Sexual Medicine, as well as Sexual Medicine Reviews and open access journal Sexual Medicine, as of January 2016. The Journal of Sexual Medicine (JSM) is the premier, authoritative publication in the field, publishing high-impact multidisciplinary basic and clinical science in monthly issues.

Wiley launches interdisciplinary OA journal, Inside the Cell |
Publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc. has announced the launch of Inside the Cell as part of the Wiley Open Access publishing program. Inside the Cell publishes research covering a broad range of areas within cell and molecular biology and seeks to present integrative insights of broad relevance. The journal is the latest addition to Wiley’s portfolio of cell and molecular biology journals, complementing widely respected titles such as BioEssays, Traffic, and Proteins.

ProQuest and Google collaborate for full text indexing of ProQuest journals in Google Scholar |
ProQuest will enable the full text of its scholarly journal content to be indexed in Google Scholar, improving research outcomes. Work is underway and the company anticipates that by the third-quarter of 2015, users starting their research in Google Scholar will be able to access scholarly content via ProQuest.

IOP Publishing journals now indexed in ReadCube |
Non-profit scientific publisher IOP Publishing (IOP) has announced an agreement with Boston-based publishing technology company ReadCube to increase the discoverability and enhance their articles within the ReadCube web, desktop and mobile environment. Thirty-four journal titles, including the Journal of Physics series, are now fully discoverable via ReadCube’s web, desktop, and mobile reading portals, plus search engines and recommendation feeds.
