SSP and STM collaborate to promote the value of mentorship in scholarly communications for early-career professionals
The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) and the International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers (STM) are collaborating to develop a panel discussion to be presented at the SSP 38th Annual Meeting in Vancouver, BC, on June 1. Members of the SSP Professional Development Committee and Early-Career Task Force have teamed up with STM’s Early-Career Publishing Committee to highlight the mentoring efforts of both organisations and raise awareness of the value of mentorship for career advancement.

Elsevier provides new ACA-FUL drug pricing benchmark data on same day government made it available
STM publisher Elsevier has announced that its Gold Standard Drug Database (GSDD) has incorporated the pricing data for the federal government’s new drug pricing benchmark, Affordable Care Act Federal Upper Limit (ACA-FUL), on the same day the government made it available, enabling Elsevier GSDD customers to react quickly to any indication of price movement. Through TRUE Daily UpdatesTM, available exclusively from Elsevier, customers can access all pertinent information on the same day that new drug launches or an important change is announced, such as the ACA-FUL, to avoid dispensing delays and potential risks to patient safety.

DOAJ to remove about 3300 journals
The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) will remove approximately 3300 journals for failure to submit a valid reapplication before the communicated deadline. The deadline was extended twice to allow more time for reapplications. This batch removal is another step in DOAJ’s two year long project to increase the value and accuracy of the information provided in it.
