Max Planck and Taylor & Francis Group sign open access agreement |
The Max Planck Digital Library and Taylor & Francis Group have signed an agreement which enables researchers based in Max Planck institutes to publish open access in 2,390 journals, under a centrally funded arrangement. This applies to peer-reviewed papers in full and hybrid Taylor & Francis Group journals, including Routledge and Cogent OA titles.

ProQuest’s MLA International Bibliography named to Choice’s selection of Outstanding Academic Titles for 2016 |
The newly redesigned ProQuest® platform for the Modern Language Association International Bibliography (MLAIB) database has been named to Choice’s selection of Outstanding Academic Titles for 2016. Choice says the annual list ‘reflects the best in scholarly titles reviewed by Choice and brings with it the extraordinary recognition of the academic library community.’

Usage statistics for Pilot and Round 2 e-books now available |
Knowledge Unlatched, a not-for- profit company based in England, has revealed the first download figures for KU Round 2 titles that have been unlatched so far. In Round 2, 78 new Humanities and Social Sciences e-books from 26 publishers were made Open Access through the support of both individual libraries and library consortia from across the globe. These books are available on the OAPEN and HathiTrust platforms for anyone to download as PDFs on Creative Commons licenses.

Royal College of General Practitioners’ new open access journal launched on the HighWire JCore platform |
The Royal College of General Practitioners’ has announced that its new open access journal, BJGP Open, has been launched on the HighWire JCore platform, joining the British Journal of General Practice which was launched on JCore in 2013. The journal will bring to light controversies in health policy and their influence on primary healthcare.

OCLC has agreed to acquire Relais International, an interlibrary loan solution provider based in Ottawa, Canada, to significantly increase resource sharing options and capabilities for both Relais customers and OCLC member libraries and groups worldwide. Relais has been working with libraries for more than 20 years to provide solutions for the full range of interlibrary loan and consortial resource sharing services.
