Elsevier publishes Practical Handbook to support Palliative Radiation Oncology |
STM publisher Elsevier has announced the publication of Handbook of Supportive and Palliative Radiation Oncology by Monica Krishnan, Margarita Racsa and Hsiang-Hsuan Michael Yu. A practical tool and rapid reference for radiation oncology practitioners in direct patient care, the book covers the most recent advances in translational palliative care research. It is organised in a succinct fashion to discuss major symptom burdens, suggested assessment and various management options. Elsevier also announced publication of two additional oncology and cancer research books.

ProQuest appoints Robert VanHees Chief Financial Officer |
ProQuest has announced the appointment of Robert VanHees as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, overseeing the company’s financial functions, including financial operations, accounting, procurement, treasury, taxation and investor relations. VanHees joins ProQuest from JLL Partners, a private equity firm, where he was an Operating Partner for five years, partnering with management to oversee strategy and operations of a variety of portfolio companies.

Marking the 15th Anniversary of the Budapest Open Access Initiative |
This year marks the 15th Anniversary of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), a landmark meeting convened in Budapest by the Open Society Foundations (OSF) that aimed to accelerate progress in the international effort to make research articles in all academic fields freely available. The participants issued a widely circulated declaration (subsequently signed by more than 5,000 organizations and individuals) that beautifully articulated the goals of the Open Access movement.

Australian Research Council and La Trobe University launch Pilot Program with CHOR |
CHOR, a developer of public access research management solutions, has announced its second international pilot program to assist government funding agencies in the identification and tracking of public accessibility to published research in peer-reviewed journals. Starting in March 2017, in partnership with the Australian Research Council (ARC) and Melbourne-based La Trobe University, CHOR will begin monitoring global publication of research funded by the Australian Government through the ARC.

The CAB Direct platform, a single point of access to all of CABI’s databases, has been rated as ‘highly recommended’ for undergraduates, researchers, faculty members, technical programme students, professionals and practitioners in the March 2017 issue of CHOICE magazine. CABI launched CAB Direct in July 2016, working with development partners across academia and industry to design a platform around the way researchers work.
