The press conference with Carolin Emcke, recipient of the Peace Prize 2016, took place in the morning of day three of the Frankfurt Book Fair. The talk was in German, translated simultaneously into English. A guided tour to the Frankfurt Hot Spots, and a meet & greet with the exhibitors was also organised.

American Chemical Society announces 2017 publication of new peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal – ACS Earth and Space Chemistry |
The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) has announced the forthcoming 2017 publication of ACS Earth and Space Chemistry, a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal. The journal will encompass high-impact basic and applied research in the fields of geochemistry, atmospheric and marine chemistry, astrochemistry and analytical geochemistry. Dr. Joel D. Blum, the J.D. MacArthur Professor, A.F. Thurnau Professor and G.J. Keeler Distinguished University Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Michigan, has been appointed the journal’s inaugural Editor-in-Chief.

Elsevier selects four start-up companies for new incubator project for biotech and pharmaceutical start-up firms |
STM publisher Elsevier has announced that four start-up companies have been selected for The Hive, Elsevier’s new incubator project for biotech and pharmaceutical start-up firms. Arctic Pharma, Rubius Therapeutics, Reset Therapeutics and Myelo Therapeutics were selected for demonstrating their commitment to addressing areas of high needs in therapeutics. All four firms will receive complimentary training and access to Elsevier’s suite of information solutions, to empower their work and help overcome R&D bottlenecks and challenges.

Murdoch University becomes first Australian library to use OCLC Sustainable Collection Services |
Global library cooperative OCLC has announced that Murdoch University Library, in Perth, Western Australia, has selected OCLC’s Sustainable Collection Services to analyse its print monograph collections. Murdoch will use the web-based SCS GreenGlass decision-support application to undertake a large-scale review of its print collections, seeking to integrate data on usage and holdings in other libraries into its decisions to retain, relocate or deselect resources.
