SAGE Publishing and Perusall in deal to support digital pedagogy and increase class preparation
Academic publisher SAGE Publishing has announced a new agreement allowing access to a selection of SAGE textbooks through the eBook platform and social annotation tool Perusall. Perusall allows students and instructors to annotate digital texts together, connect with other classmates, and respond to questions directly on the text before coming to class, enabling students to come to class better prepared.

Open Access books set to grow 30% a year through 2020, says Simba report
Media and publishing intelligence firm Simba Information has released a report titled ‘Open Access Book Publishing 2016-2020.’ The report notes that while the movement to unlock the vaults of scientific, technical and medical (STM) research is revolutionizing academic journal publishing, scholarly and professional book publishers are experimenting with open models simply to keep the venerable monograph from extinction.

CRF to launch new journal on structural heart disease
The Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF) has announced that it will launch a new international journal focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of structural heart disease and the importance of the heart team in managing these disorders. Structural Heart: The Journal of the Heart Team will publish its first issue in late Spring 2017 with submissions opening in early 2017.

RCVS Knowledge launches RCVS Vet History – Archive Catalogue
RCVS Knowledge has announced a new way to access their unique veterinary history collections. The new Archive catalogue is now available to view online, with detailed descriptions of hundreds of items from the last 150 years. Following the appointment of a qualified archivist in October 2015, a five year project commenced to improve access and awareness of the wealth of material held.

IFLA to continue fight for access to knowledge at 33rd meeting of the SCCR at the World Intellectual Property Organisation
Libraries in too many countries around the world lack the basic laws needed to do the best by their communities. And even where laws exist, they frequently fail to take account of the realities of the digital age. As such, the gap between what our communities expect and what libraries are able to offer is growing. The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) will therefore be speaking up at the 33rd meeting of the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR) at the World Intellectual Property Organisation this week.
