Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), which creates global licensing and content solutions that make copyright work, has announced that the Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS), the world’s largest scientific society, is participating in RightFind® XML for Mining, CCC’s cloud-based solution for obtaining content and rights for commercial text mining. Using RightFind XML for Mining, commercial life science users identify and download collections of full-text XML articles from thousands of peer-reviewed journals produced by 50 STM publishers.

STM publisher Elsevier and the IU Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis have announced that HIMSS (Healthcare Information Management Systems Society), an international not-for-profit organisation focused on better health through information technology (IT), will award its 2016 Book of the Year Award to Health Information Exchange: Navigating and Managing a Network of Health Information Systems. Edited by Dr. Brian E. Dixon, the book was published in March 2016 by Elsevier’s Academic Press imprint.

AAP urges more direct U.S. government engagement in IIPA Special 301 Report
The Association of American Publishers (AAP) has asked the U.S. government to encourage trading partners to fulfill their pledges to the U.S. to improve protection and enforcement of copyright. The submission was filed by the International Intellectual Property Alliance (IIPA) in response to the 2017 Special 301 inquiry by the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) and outlines the key challenges facing a number of creative industries, including publishing, when it comes to enacting copyright and related rights in foreign markets.
