Academic publisher SAGE Publishing has announced that it will publish the open access (OA) journal Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery, the official journal of the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association. Kenneth MC Cheung serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal.

ProQuest and China Academic Library Information System (CALIS), a consortium of Chinese higher education libraries, have expanded their long-standing collaboration and are now enabling unprecedented, global access to more than 270,000 dissertation abstracts from China’s premier universities. The records, captured in English, are available in the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global Database (PQDT Global™), allowing 3,000 universities around the world to discover graduate research from institutions in China.

Academic publisher Oxford University Press (OUP), together with Zhejiang University Press (ZUP) in Hangzhou, China, has launched a new, peer reviewed open-access journal – Food Quality and Safety (FQS). FQS is initially waiving article processing charges and offers prompt peer review and rapid international dissemination. The journal is available at https://academic.oup.com/fqs.

Library and Archives Canada in deal to use OCLC WMS as its library services platform, to move catalogue to WorldCat |
Library and Archives Canada (LAC) has entered into an agreement with OCLC to use OCLC WorldShare Management Services as its library services platform and move its National Union Catalogue to WorldCat. These moves are designed to make Canada’s documentary heritage more widely accessible and available to library users in Canada and around the world.

ORCID announces road show series in the US and Europe |
ORCID is starting its 2017 US road show series in Chicago in April, followed by a series of European workshops in May. These events bring together the cross-sector ORCID community and provide an opportunity to share stories, technology and outreach approaches, and meet directly with ORCID staff. Lauren Pressley elected ACRL vice-president/president-elect |
Lauren Pressley, director of the University of Washington (UW) Tacoma Library and associate dean of UW Libraries, has been elected ACRL vice-president/president-elect. She will become president-elect following the 2017 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago and assume the presidency in July 2018 for a one-year term.
