Springer in deal with EBES to publish a new book series and two journals
STM publisher Springer has finalized two deals with the Eurasia Business and Economics Society (EBES) to publish their official journals, Eurasian Business Review and Eurasian Economic Review, along with a new book series. Both journals are now in their fourth year, and the first issues with Springer were recently published. The book series expects its first title to be released early next year.

Swets Information Services B.V. declared bankrupt
Following the suspension of payment for Swets & Zeitlinger Group B.V., granted by the court in Amsterdam on September 19, 2014, the Swets Management team, together with J.L.M. Groenewegen (CMS), the appointed administrator, have been working to investigate alternatives for the business. Unfortunately, concrete alternatives to sell the business as a whole have not materialised and due to these developments Swets Information Services B.V. filed for bankruptcy on September 23, 2014. The court of Amsterdam honoured this request and as per September 23, 2014 Swets Information Services B.V. is declared bankrupt.

Subscription agent SWETS has written to publishers that to protect the business interests of Swets & Zeitlinger Group BV, the company has requested the court in Amsterdam to declare a suspension of payments of Swets & Zeitlinger Group BV and appoint an administrator. Considering Swets’ current legal situation, publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, SAGE and Emerald Group Publishing, among others, have advised customers to check the status of any recent orders with Swets and assess the on-going use of Swets as a subscription agent until any legal procedures are closed.

ProQuest Ebooks has partnered with O’Mahony’s, Irish booksellers and library suppliers, to deliver key content from leading publishers to institutions across Ireland and the UK. This new partnership will enable O’Mahony’s customers to purchase over 600,000 ebook titles, which can be chosen title-by-title and then owned outright by the library. Australian Research Council selects Elsevier’s Scopus for ERA 2015 assessment
STM publisher Elsevier recently announced that the Australian Research Council (ARC) has selected Scopus, the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed scientific literature, as the bibliometric provider for its 2015 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) assessment. This is the third consecutive time Scopus has been chosen as the sole citation provider for ERA.
