ARL launches SPEC Survey webcast series
The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) is offering a series of webcasts that present the findings from the latest SPEC surveys and allow webcast participants to discuss trends with the survey authors. A 45-minute webcast will follow the publication of each SPEC Kit in 2015. The first webcast in this series will cover the Scholarly Output Assessment Activities survey (SPEC Kit 346), which explores current ARL member library activities that help scholars manage and measure their output and impact.

UK-China collaboration for data sharing in metabolomics
A partnership between the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI), the Universities of Birmingham, Manchester and Oxford, The Sainsbury Laboratory and TGAC with BGI and its open-access journal, GigaScience, has received funding from the UK’s Biotechnology and Biological Research Council (BBSRC) to support the sharing of data and analyses in metabolomics. The award of £30,000 from the BBSRC will enable the consortium to host training workshops to support scientists in the UK and China in managing and sharing their metabolomics data and analyses.
