STM publisher Springer has announced a partnership with IMISCOE, the largest network of excellence on migration and diversity in the world, for the publication of their open access journal Comparative Migration Studies and their book series IMISCOE Research Series. Comparative Migration Studies is an international, peer-reviewed open access journal that provides a platform for articles that focus on comparative research in migration, integration, and ethnic studies.

AIP names applied physicist Robert G.W. Brown as CEO
The American Institute of Physics (AIP) has selected applied physicist Robert G.W. Brown as its new Chief Executive Officer. Selected by an AIP Executive Search Committee and unanimously approved by AIP’s Board of Directors, Brown previously served as the chief sensor scientist at the Advanced Technology Center of Rockwell Collins, Inc. and worked concurrently as an adjunct full professor in the Beckman Laser Institute & Medical Clinic of the University of California, Irvine, and in UC Irvine’s Department of Computer Science. He will assume the office of AIP CEO on June 1, 2015.

Open-access publisher Frontiers dismisses 31 editors amid fierce row over independence
Swiss open-access publisher Frontiers has reportedly dismissed almost the entire leadership of two medical journals amid a heated argument over editorial independence. 31 editors of Frontiers in Medicine and Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine were dismissed on May 7 after the editors complained that company staff were interfering with editorial decisions and violating core principles of medical publishing. In a lengthy point-by-point rebuttal published on May 7, Frontiers dismissed all of the charges and said it complies with WAME and other international guidelines.
