Oxford University Press and the European Society of Cardiology launch European Heart Journal – Quality of Care and Clinical Outcomes
Academic publisher Oxford University Press (OUP) and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) have announced the launch of European Heart Journal – Quality of Care and Clinical Outcomes (EHJQCCO), the first issue of which was published on July 2. EHJQCCO is the eleventh ESC journal, which focuses on the quality of care affecting cardiovascular outcomes at hospital, regional, national, and international level.

Cambridge University Press launches new Open Access subscription policy to prevent double-dipping
Academic publisher Cambridge University Press is launching a new policy to prevent charging both authors and subscribers for Open Access journal content (so-called double-dipping). The new policy discounts 2016 subscription prices for journals that have received Open Access (OA) Article Processing Charges (APCs) from authors in the last full journal volume (that is, in 2014).

Universities in the Netherlands are reportedly preparing to ask their researchers to resign from editorial positions with Elsevier journals amid deadlock over a new subscription deal with the publisher. The universities’ previous big deal ran out at the end of last year, but the contract stipulated that it should roll over for one more year in the event of deadlock in order to allow time for further negotiation.

High ranking OA publications in OpenAIRE, Russia tops the list
The scientific open access library CyberLeninka recently provided OpenAIRE with their data to about half a million articles stored in its database. According to updated data storage, Russia entered the top five European countries by the number of articles published in open access. OpenAIRE indexed a total of 514,571 items available at that time in the library CyberLeninka.
