Registration for ChemSearch Challenge Opens at American Chemical Society meeting 2015
STM publisher Elsevier has announced that registration is now open for participation in the Reaxys ChemSearch Challenge, a series of online quizzes that measure how quickly chemists can find the information they need to correctly answer research questions. Chemists can use their preferred chemistry database or search engine, and the response times and score accuracy will be recorded for the contest.

RCUK publishes draft Concordat on Open Research Data, seeks feedback on good practice guidelines
Research Councils UK (RCUK), on behalf of the UK Open Research Data Forum, published a draft Concordat on Open Research Data, which sets out expectations of good practice in publishing research data openly. The Concordat aims to help ensure that research data gathered and generated by members of the UK research community is made openly available for use by others wherever possible, in a manner consistent with relevant legal, ethical and regulatory frameworks and norms.

Royal Society of Chemistry and Royal Society announce journal collaboration
The Royal Society of Chemistry and the Royal Society have jointly announced a new collaboration on the Royal Society’s multidisciplinary open access journal Royal Society Open Science. The Royal Society of Chemistry will manage the commissioning and peer review processes for the chemistry section of the journal.

The Mellon Foundation grants OU $1M grant for development of digital Latin library
The University of Oklahoma is the recipient of a $1 million grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for the continued development of the Digital Latin Library project, which – when complete – will create resources that people of varying levels of interest and expertise in Latin can use to find, read, discuss, study, teach, edit and annotate Latin texts of all types and eras. This grant will allow OU and its collaborators to move forward on the implementation and launch of this Linked Open Data resource for providing resources and support of new scholarly educational materials related to Latin texts.
