The Frankfurt Book Fair has announced the appointment of Amy Webster as the new Associate Partner Rights and Licences. Amy joins from the Edinburgh TV Festival, where she was Head of New Business. She was previously at the London Book Fair, where she co-ordinated the Market Focus Programme for six years.

NetEase and Wiley partnership to significantly help enhance job readiness and reskilling for IT professionals
China-based Internet technology company NetEase, Inc. is now offering John Wiley & Sons, Inc’s Certified Big Data Developer (WCBDD) and Wiley Certified Mobile Application Developer (WCMAD) certification courses under a partnership inked by both companies recently. The partnership underpins Wiley’s commitment to fulfilling the needs of the Chinese market for robust and internationally-recognised content and certification and will also pave the way for additional courses to be offered with NetEase.

Elsevier announces winners of Gray’s Anatomy Art Contest
STM publisher Elsevier and publisher of Gray’s Anatomy, the world’s most famous anatomical reference, has selected Amanda Lilleston of Ann Arbor, Mich., as the winner of the Gray’s Anatomy Art Contest. Christopher Smith of Silver Springs, Md., was named runner-up. The winning and runner-up submissions will be featured in the new 41st edition eBook of Gray’s Anatomy, which publishes in October 2015.

Smithsonian launches public access plan for research
The Smithsonian has released its Plan for Increased Public Access to Results of Federally Funded Research, based on the principles outlined by the Office of Science and Technology Policy. Through the new plan, all applicable publications and supporting data resulting from federally funded research will be available through the Smithsonian Research Online (SRO) website or CHORUS, a non-profit membership organization that helps federal entities increase public access to research.

Radcliffe Cardiology to present live case initiative at European Society of Cardiology 2015
Cardiovascular publisher and media company Radcliffe Cardiology has announced an innovative digital education initiative at this year’s European Society of Cardiology (ESC) annual meeting in London, UK (29 August – 2 September 2015). In collaboration with the Imperial College NHS Trust and Interventional Cardiology Review (ICR) and funded by industry partners’ AstraZeneca and Medtronic, Radcliffe Cardiology has organised a live transmission of a patient case direct from the cath lab of the Hammersmith Hospital, performed by consultant cardiologist, Dr. Justin Davies.

New BISG research shows significant traction for interactive learning tools and other forms of active learning
The Book Industry Study Group, Inc. (BISG) has just released new findings from surveys conducted in Spring 2015 and analyzed in two publications, Student Attitudes Toward Content in Higher Education, Volume Five Report 2, and its companion study, Faculty Attitudes Toward Content in Higher Education. Both reports are available for immediate download. The raw data is also available via a dynamic online portal called Real-Time Reporting (RTR), which provides real-time web-based access to the raw survey data that is drillable, sortable, and accessible on demand.
