Publishing industry remains confident post-Brexit, says new Publishers Association survey
The Publishers Association recently conducted a survey, according to which, more than 70% of publishers remain committed to their business investment plans despite Britain’s vote to leave the European Union. The survey also identified key priorities for the industry going forward which included ensuring a strong government commitment to copyright and reducing VAT on e-publications.

New 1science study shows traditional scholarly journals need green open access to retain their relevance
1science, a provider of software tools and analytics to accelerate the transition to open access, has announced the availability of the first results of a large-scale study on open access. The results reveal that freely available scholarly papers, otherwise known as open access papers, have a 50% greater citation advantage than papers published in traditional subscription-based journals.

American Chemical Society names Dr. Alanna Schepartz as new editor-in-chief of Biochemistry
The American Chemical Society (ACS) has announced that Dr. Alanna Schepartz, the Milton Harris ’29 Ph.D. Professor of Chemistry and professor of molecular, cellular and developmental biology has been appointed as the new editor-in-chief to lead Biochemistry, the Society’s long-standing, peer-reviewed journal that publishes research at the intersection of biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology. Since 2005, Schepartz has served as an associate editor for the Society’s flagship Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS), a position she will now relinquish as she assumes her new editorial post.
