Thieme to acquire Schattauer
International medical and science publisher Thieme will acquire Stuttgart-based publishing house Schattauer Verlag, effective on January 1, 2017. Established in 1949 by Friedrich Karl Schattauer as an academic publisher for medicine and science, Schattauer’s nationally and internationally well-established portfolio today includes 21 journals and 1,200 print and digital books.

International scholarly publisher Brill has completed the acquisition of Ferdinand Schöningh and Wilhelm Fink, including the imprint Konstanz University Press. The Germany based publishing houses have an annual turnover of more than € 3 million. The acquisition is accretive and will strengthen Brill’s program in History, Theology, Literature and Cultural Studies, Media Studies and Philosophy.
