New report on digital transformation in publishing finds slow advancement in digital transformation, high emphasis on metadata investment

An in-depth study analyzing digital transformation in the publishing industry has found that 25 percent of publishers see themselves as “lagging” versus the rest of the industry in their current transformation efforts, while only 25 percent feel they are “leading.” The study was commissioned by software professional services firm Ixxus, along with its parent organization Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC). The full report is now available for download.

ProQuest joins Jisc’s Digital Archival Collections group purchasing pilot

ProQuest is working with Jisc to enable UK Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to build strong, user-centered research collections that better support their research focus areas and budgets. Germany’s Common Bibliographic Data Zone goes live with University of Mannheim as first member institution

Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that the University of Mannheim, a member of the Bibliotheksservice-Zentrum Baden-Württemberg (BSZ) consortium, has become the first university in Germany to be connected to the Common Bibliographic Data Zone (CBDZ). The CBDZ is a collaboration between BSZ and two other major German consortia—Verbundzentrale des Gemeinsamen Bibliotheksverbunds (VZG) and Hochschulbibliothekszentrum des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen (hbz).
