Publisher John Wiley and Sons Inc. has been selected by the Water Environment Federation (WEF) as its publishing partner for the journal Water Environment Research. The journal will transition to the Wiley Online Library platform beginning with the January 2019 issue.

The American Chemical Society (ACS) has named Erick M. Carreira as the next editor-in-chief of Organic Letters. The journal is the Society’s high-impact communications publication for the field of organic chemistry. Carreira will take over leadership in early 2019.

Open access publisher BMC, part of Springer Nature, has announced that Cardio-Oncology is now the official journal of the International Cardio-Oncology Society (ICOS). This partnership will expand and advance the understanding of cardiac complications of cancer treatments by providing society members a platform for publication of original, peer-reviewed articles in the emerging field of study and research in cardio-oncology.

 U.S. Congress funds another $5 million appropriation for Open Textbook Pilot
The U.S. Congress recently reaffirmed the national role of ‘open’ in the path to college affordability by renewing the $5 million federal Open Textbook Pilot for another year. Contained in the broader Department of Defense and Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Act of 2019, the program answers a call from students across the country to tackle textbook costs as a barrier to higher education.
