 AIP Publishing signs ‘Read and Publish’ pilot program agreement with Waseda University in Japan
AIP Publishing, a not-for-profit scholarly publisher in the physical sciences, has announced that Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan, has signed an agreement to participate in AIP Publishing’s ‘Read and Publish’ pilot program. Waseda University is the first academic institution in Asia to join the pilot, which is being launched for the 2019 publication year and will conclude at the calendar year-end.

 European Psychiatry set to become fully open access in 2020
European Psychiatry, the official journal of the European Psychiatric Association (EPA), is set to become fully open access in 2020. The announcement coincides with that of the journal’s move to Cambridge University Press and means anyone will be able to read the research it publishes online and free of charge.

 MIT Press journals achieve historically high Impact Factors
In a year that saw the launch of pioneering new journals in fields ranging from scientometrics and informetrics to the neurobiology of language, the MIT Press has achieved some of its best ever Impact Factor results. MIT Press science and technology journals performed well with Evolutionary Computation rising 45% to 3.469 and the Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience achieving 3.029.

 COAR releases Resource Type Vocabulary, Version 2
The Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) has announced the release of the Resource Type Vocabulary, Version 2. This vocabulary, which is now available in 15 languages, provides standardised terms for different types of content contained in a repository. Controlled vocabularies ensure that ‘everyone is using the same word to mean the same thing’ and are key to achieving the COAR vision of a global knowledge commons, based on an interoperable, international network of open repositories.

 Frontiers and the University of Exeter form open access publishing agreement
The University of Exeter has established an institutional membership agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers. The University of Exeter Library supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. Under the terms of this agreement, eligible authors from the University of Exeter may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to them and with a simplified process.

 Dr. Hirokazu Kobayashi named Section Editor-in-Chief for ‘Microwave and Wireless Communications’ in Electronics
Dr. Hirokazu Kobayashi has been appointed Section Editor-in-Chief for the section “Microwave and Wireless Communications” in Electronics. Dr. Kobayashi has published around two hundred papers, including conference papers, and three books. He was a Senior Member of IEEE, a Chair of Technical Committee on Space, Aeronautical and Navigational Electronics (SANE) of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) in 2015-3016.
