 The Wellcome Trust and UK Research & Innovation back project to push OA ‘transparent pricing’ framework
The Wellcome Trust and national funding agency UK Research & Innovation are backing a project to push ‘more transparent’ communication around the nature and prices of OA publishing services. The project is being run on behalf of the international research consortium cOAlition S, with consultancy Information Power leading the venture. Taking place between September and December 2019, the project is planned as a collaboration with publishers, funders and universities, seeking ‘to develop a framework which enables publishers to communicate the price of services in a way that is transparent, practical to implement, and insightful for users.’

 ACS names Mary Beth Mulcahy as new editor-in-chief of ACS Chemical Health & Safety
The American Chemical Society (ACS), Publications Division, has named Dr. Mary Beth Mulcahy, principal member of the technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories, as the new editor-in-chief of ACS Chemical Health & Safety.  American Physiological Society adopts a format-neutral submission policy for new manuscripts
The journals of the American Physiological Society (APS) have adopted a format-neutral submission policy (FlexSubmit) for new manuscripts submitted after July 31, 2019. With the change, initial submissions may now be uploaded in any format to streamline the process for authors. Now available across the portfolio of APS published journals, FlexSubmit was piloted in APS’ Journal of Neurophysiology (JNP) in late 2018.
