IET journals show Impact Factor growth
2013 Impact Factors from Thomson Reuters have shown growth for a number of journals published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) with eight of its journals improving their Impact Factor by more than 10 percent. Springer membership of OASPA reinstated with immediate effect
In a statement on the OASPA blog in April 2014, OASPA’s Membership Committee made the decision to place Springer’s membership under review as a result of concerns that were raised regarding the peer review policies of several of its conference proceedings. The Membership Committee is now of the view that Springer has taken appropriate steps to strengthen their peer review processes, and have therefore reinstated Springer as a full member of OASPA with immediate effect.

Kareo to discuss emerging technology at UBM Medica’s Practice Rx conference in Philadelphia
Kareo Inc., a provider of cloud-based medical office software and services for small medical practices, will be participating in UBM Medica’s Practice Rx conference, taking place September 19-20, 2014 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In a session titled, ‘The Essential Role for Technology in Improving Patient Care,’ Kareo’s Chief Medical Information Officer Dr. Tom Giannulli will detail the steps that physicians who are interested in a better future must embrace.

HARRASSOWITZ announces 2014 Charleston Conference Scholarship winner
HARRASSOWITZ, a global full-service subscription agent and bookseller, has awarded the 2014 Charleston Conference Scholarship to Charlotte Roh, Scholarly Communication Resident Librarian at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Ms. Roh was awarded the $1,000 scholarship to attend the conference, which takes place November 5 – 8 in Charleston, South Carolina.
