Academic publishing company Springer Nature has released a white paper titled Five Essential Factors for Data Sharing. The white paper draws on surveys of over 11,000 researchers to make concrete recommendations that ensure good data practice. The white paper builds on a number of reports published in 2018 that pinpoint challenges researchers face when sharing data.

 Cambridge University Press and the Bavarian State Library announce major OA agreement in Germany
Cambridge University Press has reached a major Open Access agreement with the Bavarian State Library (Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, BSB) on behalf of higher education and research institutions across Germany. The three-year ‘read and publish’ agreement has been concluded with the German academic library consortium, which represents research universities, universities of applied sciences, non-university research institutions and academic libraries.

 Frontiers and MIT form OA publishing agreement
Open-access scholarly publisher Frontiers and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have formed an institutional membership agreement for open access publishing. Under the terms of this agreement, MIT-affiliated corresponding authors will benefit from a 15 percent membership discount on article processing charges (APCs) when publishing in any of Frontiers’ open access journals, irrespective of what fund covers the APC.
