The American Chemical Society, the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (German Chemical Society) and theRoyal Society of Chemistry have announced their partnership with the Chinese Chemical Society and the Chemical Society of Japan as co-owners to support the strategic and financial development of ChemRxiv, the premier preprint server for the global chemistry community. Close collaboration between the five Societies ensures the sustainability of this service and presents a clear path to broader engagement with authors and readers of the service.

 AAP responds to Audible, asks court to enjoin planned infringement of literary works
The Association of American Publishers (AAP) has asked the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York to enjoin Audible, the world’s largest digital audiobook distributor, from providing its audiobook consumers with the entire machine-generated text of literary works without any authorisation from, compensation to, or quality control by the copyright owners. The complaint filed with the Court asserts claims of wilful copyright infringement against Audible and documents the company’s efforts to take for itself cross-format features that incorporate both audio and electronic text, outside of the careful decision-making, financial participation, copyright protection, and quality control of copyright owners.
