The meeting, organised by the Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR), was held on April 16, 2015 in Porto, Portugal and included representatives from Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America.

Elsevier collaborates with Friedrich-Althoff Consortium to create digital scientific literature infrastructure, ‘Archive of Berlin’
STM publisher Elsevier has announced its collaboration with Berlin’s Charité, the Humboldt University (Humboldt-Universität), the Free University of Berlin (Freie Universität) and the Technical University of Berlin (Technische Universität), all part of the Friedrich-Althoff Consortium, to create a comprehensive digital scientific literature infrastructure, ‘Archive of Berlin’, aimed to further strengthen Berlin as a central location for research. Through the agreement, all four universities will have access to ScienceDirect, granting them access to more than 2000 scientific publications of Elsevier.

Emergency Access Initiative activated to support healthcare professionals responding to earthquake in Nepal
The National Library of Medicine (NLM) has announced that Emergency Access Initiative (EAI) has been activated to support healthcare professionals working on the response to the earthquake in Nepal. The EAI is a collaborative partnership between NLM and participating publishers to provide free access to full-text from more than 650 biomedical journals and more than 4,000 reference books and online databases to healthcare professionals and libraries affected by disasters.

Medical and scientific publisher Thieme Publishers Rio (TPR) has signed on to be the official book publisher for Fundação Otorrinolaringologia (FORL), the largest otorhinolaryngology funding agency in Brazil.
