European Commission mulls over setting up publishing platform for scientists it funds |
The European Commission, which spends over €10 billion annually on research, may follow two other big league funders, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Wellcome Trust, and set up a publishing platform for the scientists it funds, in an attempt to accelerate the transition to open-access publishing in Europe. According to a commission spokesperson, the two charities, which opted for a system in which papers are reviewed after publication, are ‘models,’ but that the commission is only considering the idea. Cambridge University Press and AJE launch new language editing service for authors |
Academic publisher Cambridge University Press has announced the launch of a new author services website for 2017, in partnership with author services company American Journal Experts (AJE). The site will offer language editing for prospective authors who are writing in English as a second language. The Open Access Publishing in European Networks (OAPEN) Library has introduced a new list of book publishers that comply with Open Access requirements for books resulting from research that was funded by the European Research Council (ERC), Wellcome Trust and the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).
